Joel's Method of God Centered Meditation & Mysticism

Are you ready for class work?

For the past eleven years, it has been my pleasure and privilege to give classes to students eager to have personal instruction and commune with others also seeking to know God. I teach in the same manner that my teacher, Will Hoff, taught - with Joel's tapes, Joel's writings and lots of meditation.

My method is based on this historic practice, and incorporates Joel's original, unedited works. It is most wonderful to have small classes where I can give each student individual attention, with private time to share individual concerns and study questions. This small size brings forth a very special experience.

Each class forms with its own consciousness based on the students in that class. The lessons, the meditations, the experiences are all brought forth in a unique way. Thereby, Grace teaches us how IT operates in our consciousness and how It directs the class. We are beholders.  We experience IT; and through this experience we return to the world new and uplifted.

My class fees are based on Joel's philosophy about teaching. There are costs involved and because we live in a human, commercial world, we need to operate in it as other professions do. My philosophy regarding my classes is based on my experience as a professional educator as I follow Joel's example.

If you have questions, please call and discuss them with me.  It is always possible to ask for referrals and speak to others who have experienced a class.

Fees

Teaching The Infinite Way is a challenge for us because Joel did not leave many instructions. Teachers were to charge for their time and help, but no fee was stated and no business practices were really passed down from the first generation to the next. Perhaps this is a blessing for we can each find or own method and practice that way.

A teacher's following will be led by that teacher's consciousness and ability to impart the principles Joel articulates on the tapes and in his books.

I have struggled with this work for decades trying to make the work affordable only to find when it was very cheap, those attracted were only looking for "affordable" or "free" teaching.  This wasted everyone's time and establishes a sense of "lack". The student comes with this appearance and by accepting it, we prolong it. It is time for us all to acknowledge that we HAVE THE ENTIRE KINGDOM.  IT IS OURS, no earning, begging, pleading, deserving.  IT is ours. So we must live it.

What price do we place on spiritual teaching? How do we determine a price?  Does this dilemma mean we should have no price?  How would the spiritual worker survive? How would the spiritual leader have the freedom to leave the material world and study, meditate, heal and serve?

As a professional in my human life, I had to determine fees for professional services.  Fees were based on the value of the service, the costs involved in offering the service, the time needed for preparation, training, education, research, etc. and established fees for similar services.

I have used this knowledge in my work in The Infinite Way.  As I explained to a student once, (please know it is without personal hubris - merely an attempt at an accurate analogy) this study is like taking a Ph.D course from a professor.

To enroll in a serious study means being willing to pay the tuition, buy the books, attend class, do the assignments given, and respect the process.  Each student remains free to come or go, but the basic requirements remain.

In the interest of Joel's message, The Infinite Way®,  respect for my students, my respect for my own unfoldment, education and assignment to do this work, the fees reflect a low-median range for like professional services.

Any student who has read at least one book by Joel Goldsmith and/or heard him on tape is welcome for Open Class.

The following books are highly recommended:

The new ORIGINAL

God The Substance of All Form

 San Francisco Lectures

The 1959 Hawaiian Healing Outline

all available from cciwcc@gmail.com

Closed Classes are an immersion in the experience of meditation designed for more experienced students, not newcomers to meditation or The Infinite Way.  One must attend all of the Closed Class sessions, no late entry or early departure.  In order to attend the week of Closed Class, the student must have listened to at least ten to twenty tapes, alone or in a tape group.  Closed Class students are requested to be familiar with Joel's 1955 Kailua tapes, 1959 Hawaiian Healing work or other similar tapes. Students in the weekly on-line class are given first priority to attend.  Closed Class students should plan to attend the Open Classes as well.  Topics for each week will unfold as the class establishes itself in Consciousness and the meditating students bring forth the lessons they need. It is important to begin to join the class consciousness as soon as you know you are coming. This will mean that you should begin to attend the Saturday on-line classes in preparation. If this is not possible, you may substitute private instruction. Either this or the on-line class will be required for Closed Class attendance. Please make arrangements with Tina  (pickettroad@gmail.com) and contact Jasha (cciwcc@gmail.com) for an application.

The Open Class may be attended individually or for the series. Each class will stand alone, however Consciousness will continue to build from the first class through the series. New students who would like to learn meditation techniques should plan to attend at least one Open Class.

The Practitioner's Class is open to any student who has attended a Closed Class of Jasha's and has had time to practice the principles.  It will focus on issues and principles specific to the healing work.

Joel's Fees

In an effort to stay true to Joel's practice, we did some checking on his classes using the original Monthly Letter which has travel announcements. As you can see, he was not a "spare change" kind of guy. His hotels were nice hotels, not motels or economic venues. He flew first class, and treated the Infinite Way work with respect and value. He told his teachers not to let the students be "parasites" or see them as anything less than perfect and supplied.

We have tried to show  you what level of teaching Joel provided, where and how. Then we can see what we need to do to emulate it today.

All of the data referenced herein is taken from the end of the chapters in the 1960 Monthly Letters. We are assuming classes were the length of a tape,  about one hour not including the meditation before and after.

Here are the range of hotel prices  found during the 1960 classes:

  • LA:  $8.50 - $10.00 Single; Statler Hilton
  • Mission Inn: $10.00 Single; $13.00 Double, Mission Inn
  • Chicago: $7.00 - $12.00, Single; $12.00 - $16.00, Double; Pick Congress Hotel
  • DC: $6.00 - $8.00 Single; $9.00 - $12.00, Double; Mayflower Hotel
  • NYC: $7.50 - $12.50, Single/Double; Wellington Hotel
No prices were noted for the hotels mentioned in other cities.  So, I would suggest using an average hotel rate of $10 to make the math easier.
Tuition:
  • Closed Classes were $50, regardless of the duration.  In most cases, the duration was 6 days.  In those cases where a time was referenced, it was like 7:30PM or 7:45PM
  • Special Class - No tuition indicated.  Duration was 1 or 2 days
  • Lectures - No tuition indicated.  Looks like he gave between 1 and 4 lectures in a given city during a given visit.
CPI-U
This is the most commonly used measure of inflation provided by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (Dept of Labor).  I used the
annual average of the monthly indices for both 1960 and 2008.
  • 1960: 29.6
  • 2008: 215.3

To inflate the 1960 dollars, just divide 215.3 by 29.6, yielding a multiplier of 7.27.

Example:

  • Hotel rate of $10 (1960 $) X 7.27 = $72.70 (2008 $)

Thus, we see that the class was approximately the price of the daily hotel fee. Very few business class hotels cost $72 per day today. Many are double or triple this.

So even by our standards, Joel's fees were higher.  We will try to bring the class to this fee structure in the coming years.  Teachers should be able to pass this tradition on to their students and future teachers and practitioners. Then the work will survive as those working in it will be compensated to the degree that it will be a career, not a hobby.

Each of us must establish our Supply (God), not husband, parents, charity or social security. Our Consciousness will be the test. If it is worthy, it will draw those who are willing and able to support the work, tithe and pay for classes.

                            "Few there be that enter"

"The reason is this:  There must be a sufficient devotion to God, to Spirit, to the Invisible, That which to sense is intangible.  There must be enough devotion, enough longing, thirsting, or hungering for It that one is willing to sacrifice.

"Now, the Master said, "You must leave all for me."  The Master said, "You must be willing even to leave mother, father, sister, and brother for My sake."  The Master said, "When you find this Pearl, sell all that you have in order to purchase it.  In other words, he showed very clearly that he did not believe that the Kingdom of God was to be gotten easily, lightly, through shortcuts, or with spare time, or spare change.

"It is for this purpose that, of old, they inaugurated the teaching of tithing.

"Now, you can readily understand this:  that if your teacher or your teaching were revealed to you as living in India or Tibet or California, that in some way or other you would have to make the demonstration of getting there to your teacher and your teaching.  And it would be folly to sit around crying, "I haven't enough money," or "I have to attend a wedding, or a funeral," or "I must stay home to keep my husband company."  None of this would do once it was revealed to you where your teacher is.  You would be under compulsion of going there--that it would be up to you to be so consciously one with God that all of the interferences--the lack of money would dissolve, and there would be an abundance of money--the human relationships would adjust themselves, and you would be free to go.  Everything would take place for you.

"But you would have to have the degree of devotion necessary that would make you say, "In spite of all obstacles, I am going."

Class Work: Joel's 1958 Monthly Letter - January

Class Work

One of the most sacred experiences that can come into our lives, outside of the actual realization of God, is our class work.  It is a sacred experience because it is the pathway that can lead you to the door of heaven.  The kingdom of heaven itself, however, comes to you only as an activity of your own consciousness.

The value of a class cannot be measured from the standpoint of money.  If a class were rightly appreciated, there would not be enough money to pay for one.  The tuition for Infinite Way classes is comparatively low, not because their value is not recognized, but in order to make them available to those who are serious in wanting to walk this path and to make them available, not merely once or twice, but many, many times until the student comes to the place where he finds that he has made his contact with God – until he is consciously one with God.

Infinite Way classes are closed classes:  A student who enrolls in these classes must be sufficiently familiar with the writings of The Infinite Way to have decided in his own mind whether or not this is the message that he desires and earnestly wants.  Furthermore, he must have so arranged his activities and time as to be able to devote six consecutive days or evenings to attendance at the class sessions.  Frequently students, who enroll in an Infinite Way class, represent varied metaphysical backgrounds and at first are not completely one in their understanding of this message.  By the second or third class session, however, they are gaining a greater understanding of The Infinite Way and are, therefore, coming closer and closer into agreement.  There is a united consciousness open to the impartation of the Spirit, Itself.  If I were to spend the entire hour or two in silence, the class would be successful because we would be so attuned to the one infinite Wisdom that we would receive divine impartation.  Something more important is taking place than anything that is said from the platform, and whatever is said is immediately understood, received, and responded to in that one united consciousness.

My lifework is dedicated to bringing those who come into The Infinite Way to that place of consciousness where they themselves receive divine impartations and are no longer dependent upon books, teachers, or even classes.  It is my hope that our work will produce students who are able to lift up consciousness to the point of conscious oneness with God.   Any earnest student who comes to me or anyone of uplifted consciousness for help and who comes regularly over a period of time can be so lifted that he comes to a place where he himself is receiving the impartation of the Spirit.  That is the goal of The Infinite Way.

A closed class is an experience, not a teaching.  If a closed class were something that could be given out of memory or from past experience or as a prepared paper carefully planned and outlined in advance, there could be a closed class every day of the week.  But a closed class is not for the purpose of telling you what I have learned in the past forty years, nor of giving you a resume and repetition of some intellectually perceived statements of truth.  A closed class is an opportunity, after weeks and months of meditation and communion for sufficient silence so that God may give us a message that is new and fresh today.

There is little which can be taught about God, but God can reveal Itself infinitely every moment to all of us.  As I sit in a closed class, through my preparation of hours upon hours and days upon days of meditation, my consciousness has been opened to the revelation of God in me; and the students who partake of the class, through their preparation and through the work that has been done by them and for them, come with their consciousness open, not to hear a man but rather that God may reveal Itself in their consciousness.  Strangely enough, that may come through me and through the things that are said through me, but not necessarily.  It may come through an individual idea or thought that will present itself to the consciousness of the student while he is in the classroom, and may have nothing to do with what I am saying, or it may come when he reaches home after the meeting or in the middle of the night.  It may even come two weeks or two months from the time the class was held, but when it comes it will be the revelation of God within.  A closed class is an experience, and you will find that it is an experience of God in you.  In coming into the closed class work, you are a part of a united spiritual consciousness which encircles the globe.

Scholarships

Scholarships may be offered to students in temporary need because of illness, unemployment, etc. It is natural to be sensitive to the young academic who is not employed but expressing a consciousness ready for this work.  Each case is individual. Scholarships will be considered as loans which, when repaid, will fund the future scholarships.
