As experienced students know, Joel supported tape study and approved of tape groups. In his day, it was unrealistic to expect new students to buy all of the tapes Joel made. Thus, tape groups are a way to share the tapes and expensive audio equipment and allow new students an introduction to Joel's original work. Joel made a number of tapes expressly for Tape Group Leaders as well as Teachers and Practitioners.
Tape work is one of the highest forms of study, taking us deeper into Consciousness. It is different from reading, we use a different part of our brain to assimilate the message. I hope that you are familiar with Joel on tape and begin to collect those tapes which touch you personally. We do not study any tapes by so-called teachers of The Infinite Way, or by those who tape lessons "based on The Infinite Way" or "based on the teachings of Joel Goldsmith". A real teacher only uses Joel's tapes and books to insure that you are getting the original message from the revelator, not a disciple's interpretation.
All of Joel's written materials came from his recorded talks. They were unrehearsed, extemporaneous talks given around the world. All the basic principles are on every tape, yet each tape contains its own individual Consciousness. Our human consciousness must be told again and again, in a myriad of ways before we begin to comprehend a bit of Christ Consciousness. Joel's tapes are an invaluable tool to help us learn to meditate and grasp the principles. Through the tapes, Joel becomes your teacher.
Please seek out a tape group using only Joel's tapes, or if you have a nice tape collection, consider beginning one yourself. If they are run according to Joel's instructions, without socializing or conversation (beyond polite greetings and good-byes), with gratitude and respect, there is much to be gained from this experience.
